iSCAN NX IMS2 & J2534 Utility Installation Guide

Important Notes

  • For iSCAN NX customers, only the VCI Box is required for IMS2 & J2534 connections. The iSCAN NX Tablet is not needed for accessing IMS2 connections.
  • Ensure your iSCAN NX VCI Box is connected to your OE computer before proceeding.

1. Download and Launch the Installer

  1. Download the IMS2 Utility:
    • Locate and download the IMS2 Utility file from the official Autoland Scientech website.
    • Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your computer.
  2. Launch the Installer:
    • Double-click the unzipped file to start the installation.
  3. Windows Security Prompt:
    • If Windows displays a security message for an unrecognized app:
      • Click More Info on the left.
      • Select Run Anyway to proceed.

2. Language Selection

Choose your preferred setup language when prompted and click Next.

3. Vehicle Software and Driver Selection

  • View IMS2 & J2534 Options:
    • A list of available IMS2 and J2534 pass-thru options will appear.
  • Select Manufacturer:
    • Choose the vehicle manufacturer to install the required VCI driver for your OE software.

**Important Note:To connect using a different manufacturer on the same PC, re-run the IMS2 Utility and repeat the Installation process for that manufacturer.

  • Click Next to proceed.

4. Destination Location

  • Select Installation Folder:
    • Choose the default location (e.g., C:Program FilesIMS2) or click Browse to select a different folder.
      • Ensure at least 100.5MB of free disk space is available.
    • Click Next to proceed.

**Reinstallation Note:If this is a reinstallation, confirm the prompt to install in the same location by selecting Yes.

5. Start Menu Folder

  • Shortcut Creation:
    • Confirm the default Start Menu folder or click Browse to select a custom folder.
    • Click Next to continue.

6. Additional Tasks

  • Setup Options:
    • Choose additional setup tasks:
      • Create a Desktop Shortcut.
      • Run on Startup.
    • Check or uncheck boxes as desired and click Next.

7. Installation Process

  • Confirm and Install:
    • Review settings and click Install to begin.
  • Progress and Prompts:
    • If the IMS2 Utility is already open, the installer will prompt you to close it automatically. Click Next to proceed.

8. WinPcap Setup

  • Install WinPcap:
    • A separate wizard for WinPcap will launch.
    • Click Next, accept the User Agreement, and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

9. Complete Installation

  • Setup Wizard:
    • Once installation is complete, click Finish.
    • Launch the IMS2 Utility from the shortcuts created during setup.

10. Post-Installation Steps

  1. Agree to License Terms:
    • Launch the IMS2 Utility and accept the license agreement.
  2. VCI Driver Selection:
    • Select and install the appropriate VCI driver for your OE software. Follow on-screen prompts to complete.

11. Interface Box Update

  1. Ensure Connection:
    • Confirm the VCI interface box is properly connected to your OE computer.
  2. Update Process:
    • Check that your computer is connected to the internet.
    • Unplug and reconnect the VCI box or press its Reset button.
    • Wait for the VCI to beep three times.
    • Press Confirm in the utility and re-run the update function.
